About Us

Hello!  We, sisters Becca and Tammy, are creative business women with a spirit of adventure, a love of learning and a need to continually pass on what we have learned to others.

Like us, you will love the way that a great high quality cup of tea can make you feel like you can take on the world or it can make you feel like you can take a deep breath and relax.  We are busy women who believe in whole leaf tea.  We believe you and we are worthy of the high quality!

We are committed to bringing you high quality tea blends that make you feel special!  We believe you are worth it!  We love testing, blending and researching ingredients until we find a blend worthy of a ‘10’!

In 2015, a unique set of circumstances led us (who live two hours apart and fourteen years age difference between us) to a place that the universe opened both of our lives to purchase Tempest in a Teapot.  Please ask us for the details if you see us – we love to tell the story!!   Serendipity!

As sisters, we love our tea very different.  Becca enjoys Rosie Tea (hibiscus and rosehips – our #1 seller) iced and lightly sweetened throughout the day.  While Tammy starts her morning with Tradesman Tea (bold black blend - #3 top seller) with no cream or sugar and then moves into Mint to Be Tea (beautiful light green tea blended with spearmint - #2 seller) both hot and iced depending on the weather.  Our differences and our similarities have been a perfect pairing in creating a business that focuses on the differences in you – our customers and friends.

However, we both agree on our hot Cuppa Lavender Tea just before bedtime.  Sweet dreams!

Look for us out and about in Deer Isle or Cushing, Maine.  We have a strong love for the coast of Maine that we could view out of our childhood bedroom window.  We are strong swimmers, love lighthouses and walking and sitting on the ocean rocks or sandy beach with our friends, children, grandchildren or by ourselves just thinking. You will find us laughing most of the time something we learned so easily from our Dad.  We lost dad this past year to cancer but often feel he is watching over us – and yes, sometime laughing at us saying, “What are you two girls up to now?!”

Following our mentoring spirit, you will find us volunteering on non-profit boards, working to feed children through the Rockland Back Pack Programs, Deer Isle Kids in the Kitchen, or volunteering in schools and church groups, or working on one of our new projects - making quilts for the children entering the homeless shelter.

We work hard to earn your loyalty.  You are worth that to us!

Thank you for sharing a few minutes with us.  Pull up a teapot, pick a blend – and enjoy!

Sisters, Becca Emerson and Tammy Smith.
